Community Outreach: If you or someone you know is elderly, at risk or living alone, we encourage you to participate in our "File-of-Life" program. We will provide you with a form and a red envelope that can be displayed on your refrigerator that contains all of your emergency contact information, medications and medical history that may be required by the squad should you ever have an emergency. Please contact us via phone or at outreach@chesterfirstaid.org,and we would be hapy to send you the form and instructions. We will even come to your home to help you complete the information if you would like! We are all used to having schools, camps and sports groups asking us for medical history and emergency contact numbers for our kids. Pretty much anyone that supervises children will request this information. But one of the most common times that we leave our children in the care of others is babysitting, and yet we rarely provide the same information to the sitter. Should an emergency happen when you are not home, First Responders need the information contained in our sample Childrens File-of-Life document. As with the regular File-of-Life document, take the time to update this document as needed and explain it to whoever may be supervising your children when you are not home - it could save their life! There is a new movement afoot started by a paramedic in the UK called ICE - In Case of Emergency. The concept is to have people program entries in their cell or portable phones under the name of ICE, ICE1, ICE2, etc. that have emergency contact numbers that EMS personnel can use in case of an emergency.
